As the calendar draws near to September the coundown begins. In 12 days our family will share a big day. First, Spencer will be 3, then his brother Nicholas and his crewmates in the USCG aboard the SHERMAN will be heading up to the Bearing Sea for a fall patrol. After a wonderful Birthday celebration for Spencer , Robert, Spencer & myself will be departing for our "Euro-whirl".
The plan: Flying into Amsterdam. Visit with Aunt Roxann for a couple of days, then off in a campervan. We will be heading South through Germany, stopping off in some YTD (yet to be determined) locations. Possibly Octoberfest (which is actually in Sept) and we plan on going to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Bavarian Alps. From Southern Germany we will travel through Austria and finally to Italy.
In Italy the highlights will be Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome and Naples. I think we will spend a large portion of our time in Italy.
From Italy we will taking a 18 hour cruise/ferry to Barcelona Spain. After sights in Northern Spain we will drive through France to Paris. The highlight for us in Paris will be France Disney! Certainly worth at least a days visit!
After Disney we will visit Belguim, eat & purchase loads of chocolate, then head back to Amsterdam, drop off the van and probably bend Roxanns ear more than she cares to hear about all of our adventures.
Much to our delight, on our flight home we had an option to stop for a day in Chicago for a layover! What a bonus suprise! To get a visit in with Spencers grandparents ! Then after that we will be heading home to Maui. Hoping to catch our breath and battle jet lag quickly before we get back to work.
